Diaper Bag and Top Done!!!

Luckily the baby shower isn't til May 16. I still have to decide how to quilt the baby quilt. I'm not very good at free motion, but thought a very large stipple would work or just stitch in the ditch. I have the quilt sandwiched and ready to quilt. So I think I will do some free motion practicing, before I tackle it. Anyone have any suggestions for the quilting? Connie204

  1. I love both! The diaper bag is a nice touch and something I've been toying with trying for a future addition to baby quilts...how hard was it? You've got plenty of time to decide how to quilt the quilt, but I know it will be wonderful no matter what you choose.

  2. Great bag and quilt! So useful! And they will be much loved by mom and baby.
I think I'd take the easy route and quilt it in diagonal lines through the nine patches, all the way out to the corner blocks. Then do the curved lines toward the center on each side of the printed squares. Are you binding it in blue? It is really a cute quilt! ---"Love"

  3. Well done! If you feel you don't have enough freemotion practice before this quilt has to be done, I think diagonal lines through all the patches and straight lines in the borders (either along the length of the border, or piano key style) would look good on this quilt. The focus is really on the fun fabric and bright colours. -Joanne

  5. Fantastic, Connie! You were so worried about fulfilling the parents "requirements" (ask me how I understand this one) and you couldn't have done better. Wow! I'm with Katie, the bag is a wonderful addition and I'll bet the quilt will become the favorite. It is absolutely charming and you should be quite proud of yourself! Mary

  6. Connie, the sports fabric you found is perfect! The quilt is s cute. I agree with the others, quilting the diagonals would be good. The fabricis really the "star" so I don't think you need elaborate quilting.
The bag is great. Did you design that one?

  7. Your diaper bags are marvellous! The quilt is beautiful. I would stipple in the plain squares and straight stitch a diagonal in the nine patch. For the borders you could stitch parallel lines either running along the border or at 90 degrees. I'm sure whatever you choose will look terrific! Cheers, Ann :-)
